Seamanship Quotation

“In political activity, then, men sail a boundless and bottomless sea; there is neither harbour for shelter nor floor for anchorage, neither starting-place nor appointed destination.”

What Obama left out?

You can’t know whether even the big things in a State of the Union address will get done. However, it’s very bad news if what you want is entirely left out—if the President and the White House don’t give your project even a word of support.
I know this sounds precious but attention ought to be paid: neither climate change nor Canada was mentioned.
The President reminded Americans that “We do big things.” Clearly, it was decided that what’s in the works with Canada is just too small and that climate change, for now, is just too big.
